DEFEND Recap

As a leader in Enterprise Fraud and Risk Management, DataVisor brought together thought leaders together for an interactive discussion on how AI-powered technology can enable scalable protection, DataVisor: DEFEND, the first in a series of virtual gatherings where we discussed the future of digital fraud and risk with expert practitioners and technology leaders who shared their experiences and expertise for advancing fraud and risk management across industries.

The first of the DEFEND series was moderated by Jonathan Reiber, Senior Director of Cybersecurity Strategy and Policy at AttackIQ and former Department of Defense Chief Strategy Officer for Cyber Policy in the Obama administration with DataVisor CEO Yingian Xie and PwC Financial and Economic Crimes expert, Brian Castelli as panelists. The DEFEND event was attended by nearly 200 live attendees including those from Google, Netflix, Lyft, Uber, Verizon, Visa, Wells Fargo & Western Union.

For those who weren’t able to attend in person, we have a recording available & it is packed with insights you will not want to miss. From the conversation from our panelists, to the questions from the media experts, it was a jam packed session  talking about the future of digital fraud and risk, how organizations are coping with the new normal and strategies to proactively manage risk with AI and ML.

This wasn’t just a sit back & relax kind of webinar though. As you saw based on the promotion for the event in the weeks leading up to DEFEND, we wanted participation. We posted numerous surveys leading up to the event & asked what exactly you wanted to hear from us during DEFEND.

The results of the survey were not surprising.

An overwhelming ¾ of our over 150 attendees cited more AI-Machine based tech as the future of their organization. Given the recent growth in digital adoption, newer business models to service remote employees, and the need for scalable protection, our speakers were aligned that AI and ML technologies will play a greater role in the future as companies explore newer ways to conduct business.

Our second survey highlighted some interesting organizational trends.

Attendees cited a lack of resources as a key barrier to adopting AI-based solutions. This is understandable. Even though data science is the highest growing job role, organizations struggle to hire and retain data scientists. Moreover, lack of domain knowledge around fraud makes many of the fraud models created by data science teams often ineffective. This is why many organizations partner with vendors who have strong technology and domain expertise to advance their fraud and risk management.

The icing on the cake was our interactive session featuring Q&A with our attendees and media experts. Below are a few of our favorite questions & the panelist’s answer!
