Renowned Women Microsoft Researchers Start Company Leveraging Big Data Analytics to Expose Cyber Criminals Before they Attack
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA — Oct. 13, 2015 — DataVisor, an innovator in utilizing Big Data analytics for Internet security, today announced it has secured $14.5 million in Series A funding, led by GSR and NEA, to help protect consumer-facing websites and mobile apps from cyber criminals. The company’s software features a unique security analytics engine that operates within a Spark big data platform that can analyze billions of events per hour and automatically discover unknown malicious campaigns early, without labels or training data. The investment will be used to disrupt the point security solutions that have become ineffective in handling modern day threats; grow DataVisor’s global footprint, which protects marquee consumer-facing online services; and expand its team of engineering, sales and marketing talent.
Founded in December 2013, DataVisor is already in production with big data analytics, serving some of the largest Internet properties in the world, including Yelp, the world’s largest social review site, and Momo, which with over 180 million users is one of top social platforms in China.

These advanced tactics overwhelm the capacity of traditional solutions by mustering hundreds of thousands of malicious accounts to launch millions of attacks per day.
